Data sources
Phoenix Health Compass integrates over a dozen authoritative federal and clinical data sources. Every provider, hospital, and quality signal on the site links back to its source of record so you can verify it yourself.
Provider data
- **NPPES** — National Plan and Provider Enumeration System. The source of NPI numbers, specialties, and practice locations for every licensed U.S. clinician. Refreshed weekly.
- **PECOS** — CMS enrollment status; confirms whether a provider can bill Medicare.
- **OIG LEIE** — The HHS Office of Inspector General List of Excluded Individuals and Entities. Providers on this list are barred from federal healthcare programs due to fraud, patient abuse, or other misconduct. Refreshed monthly.
- **State medical boards** — Disciplinary actions, license status, and complaint history where publicly available.
Hospital data
- **CMS Care Compare** — Star ratings, patient safety indicators, readmission rates, timely care metrics, and patient survey (HCAHPS) results.
- **CMS Hospital General Information** — CCN, ownership type, emergency services availability, address.
- **CMS Cost Reports** — Financial data used for context on hospital operations.
Content sources
Educational content in the Recovery Hub, Learn Center, and Ask Phoenix references only authoritative sources: MedlinePlus, CDC, NIH, AHRQ, Medicare.gov, HHS, peer-reviewed literature via NCBI PubMed, and specialty society guidelines (ASA, ACS, etc.).
Refresh cadence
Every ingestion run is logged and visible on the internal Data Ingestion page. Failed runs trigger alerts to our team so data stays current and trustworthy.
