Compare equivalent measures side by side. Non-comparable or withheld results are labelled, never estimated.

Why one measure should not define a hospital
Hospitals often perform differently across conditions, procedures, patient groups, and reporting periods.
A hospital may show a favorable result for one condition and an unfavorable result for another in the same year. Each measure is built for a specific population and question.
The most useful approach is to look at the measures closest to the care you expect to receive and bring your questions to the care team.

- — Combining unrelated measures into one score is not supported by the official methodologies, and Phoenix does not do it.

Why hospital data may be months or years old
Public quality data describes care that happened during a past reporting period, then goes through collection, validation, and publication before release.
The period in which the care occurred matters more than the date the file was downloaded. Phoenix shows both when the source provides them.
Hospitals change: staff, services, ownership, and programs may all differ from the reporting period shown.
What this does not tell you
- — Recent changes at a hospital will not appear in older reporting periods.
- — Confirm services, policies, and coverage directly with the hospital before making plans.
