Sepsis awareness

Sepsis is a medical emergency. Minutes matter.

Step by step

  1. 1Warning signs include confusion, extreme pain, fever or shivering, clammy skin, shortness of breath, and a high heart rate.
  2. 2Say the word out loud: “Could this be sepsis?” It changes the speed of the response.
  3. 3Recent surgery, catheters, wounds, and chemotherapy raise risk.
  4. 4Call 911 for suspected sepsis — do not wait for a clinic appointment.
Before you move on

Write down who you spoke with, the date, and what they promised. A short dated note is the single most useful thing you can have if this issue has to be escalated later.
